THE POSITION
The primary function of the Trainer & Assessor is to develop and deliver high quality accredited training programs. The training must be delivered in accordance with AQTF
Standards, VRQA Guidelines for VET Providers and the Skills First Quality Charter.
Activity areas include:
1. Training & Assessment: Plan, initiate and deliver training for Certificate I in Transition
Education and Certificate I in Work Education
2. Resourcing: Access and utilise appropriate and up-to-date training materials and
other resources as required
3. Reporting: Complete and maintain all documentation related to training ensuring
that records are complete, thorough and accurate
4. Quality: Pursue and participate in professional development to ensure personal
knowledge, skills, and competencies relevant to specific training and assessment
duties are currently and constantly advanced
5. Compliance: Comply with all quality standards as well as with the organisations policies and
procedures
6. Relationships: Maintain collaborative and supportive relationships
Key duties and responsibilities
- Assess student skills to determine their needs and contribute to learning plans
- Plan, implement and evaluate session plans and activities that are designed to engage
and challenge students - Develop, review, and adjust training plans to ensure that they meet the specific
needs of students - Assist students to be well equipped for their learning purposes
- Ensure training venues are properly equipped and set up to support quality training
and to meet specific needs of students - Teach and mentor students as a class, both in small groups and 1:1
- Monitor student progress, and identify and make provision where students require
learning support or extensions - Regularly communicate with key stakeholders
- Maintain a thorough understanding of, and ensure compliance with all organisation
policies and procedures as well as funding and regulatory requirements - Participate as required in external/internal audits
- Assist with the implementation of plans and strategies to improve the effectiveness
and efficiency of programs - Complete and submit reports as required
- Support and guide Trainer Assistants where relevant
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
- Certificate IV Training and Assessment (full TAE40116, or TAE40110 with additional
TAELLN411/401A and TAEASS502A/502B units) - Appropriate industry qualification in special education and/or relevant knowledge of
theories, methods and practices in teaching learners with a range of intellectual
disabilities. - Experience in training in the disability sector is preferred
Other requirements
- A satisfactory Australian National Police Check
- Victorian Driver’s Licence

SALARY
Salary is negotiable dependent on experience.
